Para ello maneja sistemas de información estratégica; promueve sistemas de producción sustentable, competitivo y de calidad; apoya la estrategia internacional para aumentar las exportaciones silvoagropecuarias; y colabora en la búsqueda del bienestar integral de la población rural, articulando iniciativas entre el mundo público, privado y la sociedad civil. www.odepa.gob.cl MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE The Chilean Ministry of Agriculture is responsible for promoting, steering and coordinating Chile’s agricultural, livestock and forestry activities. According to decree N° 294 passed in 1960, “it shall seek primarily to increase national production; to protect the renewable natural resources and to improve the nutritional conditions of the people””. To support the groth of the sector, the Ministry’s mission is to move towards a competitive, sustainable, innovative and modern agro-food and forestry sector, socially committed to regional and rural development. OFFICE OF AGRICULTURAL STUDIES AND POLICIES “Information for decision making and action to coordinate rural development” ODEPA’s institutional mission is “to support the administration of the Ministry of Agriculture and the public and private entities involved in the field of agriculture, livestock and forestry, by providing specialised consultancy and information services“. To that end, it manages strategic information systems, promotes sustainable, competitive and quality production systems, supports the international strategy to increase agricultural, livestock and forestry exports and collaborates in the search for the integral wellbeing of the rural population, articulating initiatives between the public and private world and the civil society.
