El Censo agropecuario de 2007 indicaba que en el país habían aproximadamente 450.000 colmenas y hoy las cifras del Servicio Agrícola y Ganadero (SAG) del 2018, alcanzan a más de 985.000. En Chile más de 6.200 predios desarrollan esta actividad, desde Parinacota hasta la Patagonia, empleando los recursos melíferos de la flora nativa chilena, altamente endémica, presente en los ecosistemas naturales de norte a sur del país y desde el Océano Pacífico hacia la Cordillera de Los Andes. VII. BEEKEEPING Chilean beekeeping grew significantly between the last ten years, from some 450,000 hives (Census, 2007) to more than 985,000 in 2018, according to SAG information. At present, there are 6,200 beekeeping farms distributed throughout in Chile, from Parinacota to Patagonia, taking advantage of the honey producing native flora present in Chile’s natural ecosystem, from the north to the south, from the Pacific Ocean to the Andes.
