GESTIÓN AMBIENTAL Entre los instrumentos de gestión ambiental existentes en el país que permiten fortalecer el manejo sostenible de los recursos naturales, contribuyendo así a la mejor inserción de la economía tanto en el mercado externo como en el interno, destacan los acuerdos de producción limpia y el sistema de evaluación de impacto ambiental. A nivel sectorial, sobresale el instrumento de fomento para la sustentabilidad agroambiental de los suelos agropecuarios. Entre los instrumentos de gestión ambiental reconocidos por los mercados internacionales destacan las certificaciones que dan cuenta de la implementación de prácticas de agricultura sostenible. A. ACUERDOS DE PRODUCCIÓN LIMPIA Los Acuerdos de Producción Limpia (APL) son convenios celebrados entre un sector productivo y los órganos del Estado con competencias ambientales, donde se establece el compromiso de aplicar prácticas de producción sostenible, mediante el cumplimiento de metas y acciones específicas en un plazo determinado. Desde 1999, cuando comenzaron a operar los APL, se han realizado un total de 44 acuerdos en el sector agroalimentario, los que contemplan a 4.793 empresas adheridas. En el gráfico se presentan las empresas agroalimentarias adheridas a APL por año, desde 2008 a 2018. El peak que se observa en 2009 se debe a la firma de un APL del sector vitivinícola, que incorporó gran cantidad de productores. IV. ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT Currently, there are several instruments in place to promote the sustainable management of Chile’s natural resources, thus helping to enhance our economy’s position both domestically and internationally. The most notable of these are clean production agreements and the environmental impact evaluation system. At sector level, the instrument for promoting the agroenvironmental sustainability of agricultural and livestock systems deserves particular attention. Most important, among the environmental management instruments recognised by international markets are the certifications that attest to the implementation of sustainable agricultural practices. A. CLEAN PRODUCTION AGREEMENTS Clean production agreements (CPAs) are agreements signed between the productive sector and government agencies responsible for environmental issues. CPAs promote the commitment to the implementation of clean production practices through specific non-legally binding goals and actions, within a specified period. Since 1999, when CPAs began to operate, a total of 44 agreements have been reached in the agri-food sector, with 4,793 companies participating. The graph shows CPA-affiliated agri-food establishments by year. The peak can be observed in 2009 as a result of CPA affiliation by wine sectors , which included a large number of producers.
